After a recommendation from The Soho Girl, we decided to check out 28°-50° Oxford Circus and we are so glad we did. This bar is a hidden gem, a stones throw from Oxford Circus away from the hustle and bustle. It’s the perfect Sex & The City meets Gossip Girl vibes…
There’s an impressive selection of delicious cocktails, great quality wine and modern European menu including sharing platters, coupled with a great atmosphere. We were immediately drawn towards the rather gorgeous centralised bar. We sat with front row seats to watching Aldo the mixologist shake up our amazing cocktails, whilst simultaneously giving us some context on each creation and lots of banter to keep us amused as we awaited the making of our cocktails. We asked for an off the menu spicy margarita which had just the right kick, and the perfect blend of flavours. Mojitos can be hit or miss for us but this was made perfectly.
Just as we were getting peckish, we were presented with our sharing platter of olives, hummus, piquillo peppers, padron peppers and artichokes. This was the perfect accompaniment to our next round of absolutely divine spritz cocktails… and of course our never ending conversations. One drink became, two became three, as we sipped on our cocktails and snacked on our platter, time seemed to stop in this gorgeous bar.
It’s really rare to see a bar in the West End offer the level of attentive attentive service we received. If you are not a wine connoisseur, and let’s face, not many of us are, help was at hand to choose. We were recommended the fresh and light Provence Rose by the sommelier, which was perfect for our palate. We ended our splendid evening on a high with some rather delicious Espresso Martinis for the road. This is a place we definitely will be revisiting with friends over the festive season, and trying the other 28°-50° locations including their live jazz venue, 28°-50° by Night, which is next on our list.
