Short Film: My Week with Maisy | My London Times

With what this year may well turn out to be an interesting patchwork of Autumn movie releases due to current industry circumstances (more on that later) it’s worthwhile watching out for some smaller, homegrown goodies.  Short films can often get buried under the razzmatazz of bigger budget studio offerings, but with many actors and crew pretty much out of action red carpet-wise for the time being at least because of the SAG-AFTRA strike, it might be worth casting the net a bit wider.

Word to the wise, keep a weather eye out for MY WEEK WITH MAISY a 20m offering which started its journey into wider public recognition with a one off showing at the ever-lovely Electric Cinema in Portobello Road. A Q&A with star Dame Joanna Lumley and director Mika Simmons, hosted by Laura Whitmore, followed.

Ellie-Mae Siame – definitely one to watch – co-stars as the eponymous Maisy, who meets the somewhat less than friendly Mrs Foster (Lumley) in a hospital treatment room. Words, of all sorts, follow as more than one trenchantly held opinion is re-evaluated.

No release date as yet, but watch this – and other – spaces.
