When PR founder Liv Kirby stepped in front of the camera for a recent independent magazine cover shoot, it was meant to be a simple creative assignment — a moment to capture her at work and mark a professional milestone. Coordinated by The Culture Edit, the shoot brought together a small team with a clear brief: to create imagery that reflected Liv at this point in her career.
What unfolded, however, was something more personal. Behind the scenes, Liv was also stepping into a new chapter of her life — one she would later share through the images themselves: she’s expecting her first child.
“I feel unstoppable”

In many ways, it feels fitting. Liv has built her career helping others shape and share their stories through her PR agency, Kirby PR. Now, she finds herself at the centre of one of her own — navigating business, identity and impending motherhood all at once.
Editor Kai Lutterodt caught up with Liv to explore what this next chapter really looks like.

You’ve spent your career helping other people tell their stories. How does it feel being the subject of one for a change?
“Ohh it’s an odd feeling I’m not going to lie! But I’m loving it, a little bit overwhelmed I’ll admit but I have such a fantastic energy around me I feel unstoppable!”

Was there a moment during your pregnancy when you realised life was about to change in a very real way?
“100%, balancing/tackling first trimester and work was definitely a challenge, but it got easier once I got a routine set.”
As a PR agency owner, you’re used to planning ahead. Has motherhood taught you to embrace uncertainty?
“Let’s be honest in the world of PR every day is different, filled with challenges and surprises; I think I was made for this role haha!”
Has becoming a mum-to-be changed your definition of success?
“If anything it makes me want to work harder!”

What part of motherhood are you most excited about?
“Ohhhh everything! There’s going to be so many firsts! First steps, first words! The thought of it all makes my heart so full!”
Have you approached your business differently since finding out you’re expecting?
“I’m being kinder to myself, working 5am to 9pm is just a no no now, this mama needs to chill a bit!”

Is there anything about working women and motherhood that society still gets wrong?
“That we can’t have both, because we certainly can!”
What advice would you give to women who feel they have to choose between building a career and building a family?
“You don’t, trust your heart and gut and do what feels right for you.”

Looking back at your younger self starting out in PR, what would she think of where you are today?
“She would definitely be going ‘yessssss Liv!!! We did it!!’”
If you could send a message to yourself one year from now, what would it say?
“Keep going baby girl you’ve got this!”
What’s next for Liv Kirby?
“Growth, everything is about growth to me right now, personal, work and structure! Let’s go!”

Looking Forward
For Liv, this moment isn’t about choosing between identities: founder, strategist, expectant mother — but learning how they coexist. The pace may shift, the priorities may evolve, but the ambition remains firmly in place.
If anything, this next chapter feels less like a pause and more like an expansion — of business, of life, and of self.
And as Liv puts it best: growth is the only direction forward.
