If your idea of the perfect summer afternoon involves homemade cake, picnic blankets and plenty of buttercream, this is one London event you won’t want to miss.

CAKE PICNIC is returning to London on Sunday 5 July, bringing hundreds of passionate bakers together for a one-of-a-kind community celebration in Greenwich Park. Following the success of previous events around the world, this year’s edition promises even more sweetness thanks to a partnership with the much-loved children’s character, Strawberry Shortcake.
Set within one of London’s picturesque Royal Parks, the event invites amateur and experienced bakers alike to bring along a whole homemade cake to share with fellow attendees. Whether you’re proud of a showstopping layered sponge, a nostalgic family recipe or even a boxed-mix creation, everyone is welcome—as long as they come ready to share.
The event will take place across morning and afternoon sessions, with an incredible 250 cakes featured at each picnic, creating a colourful display of creativity and baking talent.
Families are in for a treat too. Before each CAKE PICNIC session, children aged approximately 3 to 10 can take part in the Berry Beginners cake decorating workshop with renowned cake artist Ashley Holt. Designed for first-time decorators, the hands-on class teaches simple piping techniques as little bakers create their own berry-inspired cake, which will then become part of the CAKE PICNIC celebration.
With limited spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis, it’s a fun and creative way for young children to get involved, making the event an ideal family-friendly day out this summer.
There’s perhaps no better place than London for a celebration like this. With the UK’s enduring love affair with baking—helped along by countless home bakers and television baking competitions—combined with the arrival of berry season, the event is perfectly timed for a summer gathering centred around good food and community.
Elisa Sunga, founder of CAKE PICNIC, shared:
“I am so excited to bring CAKE PICNIC back to London, and to do it alongside Strawberry Shortcake. There is something magical about hundreds of people each carrying a cake they made themselves, all in one park, in the middle of summer. London bakers have such heart and such imagination, and I cannot wait to see what they create.”
Since launching, CAKE PICNIC has grown into a global phenomenon, hosting more than a dozen events around the world and welcoming thousands of attendees. By 2026, the movement will have celebrated more than 11,000 homemade cakes, proving that sharing something you’ve baked remains one of the simplest ways to bring people together.
Whether you’re looking for a unique family day out, an excuse to perfect your favourite bake, or simply want to spend an afternoon surrounded by fellow cake enthusiasts, this berry special event is set to be one of London’s sweetest summer gatherings.
